The Sciullo Family

Picture
Dogward Bound is owned and operated by Vincent and Michelle Sciullo. What started out as a unique approach to training by integrating his own pack with his clients through hiking, has turned into our dream of providing a therapeutic retreat for dogs to reconnect with their primal instincts by enjoying nature and the companionship of other dogs.

Playing soccer at the collegiate level, Vincent naturally made the well being of body, mind, and spirit a priority. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation and worked for many years to enhance the lives of both children and seniors. A passion and natural connection to dogs led him to return to school to become a Certified Master Dog Trainer and Behavior Specialist.

"I provide a controlled, structured and therapeutic environment, utilizing experience and a natural calm assertive energy to produce visible results in your companion. Not only do I offer the opportunity for your dog to receive the adventure and exercise it seeks, I also provide a more unique and instinctual style training and socialization."

Besides helping Vincent run the daily operations of Dogward Bound, Michelle is Vincent's wife, and mommy to their smallest members of the pack,  Anthony (age 6) and Sophia (age 5), and Maya (age 2)! She is also a local English teacher, loves spending time with her family, reading, cooking and exploring their little piece of the mountain.

"Our goal to to make our clients feel like they are not just dropping their babies off at a kennel but leaving them in the hands of a loving and loyal family. Dogward bound is not just our business it's also our home."

My love for animals was evident at a young age, It was then I vowed to choose a career working with them. While I care for all animals, I am passionate most about dogs and bring over 3 years of kennel experience to Dogward Bound. I understand the stress that a change in a dog’s environment can cause. I give individual care to each of our guests. I have two dogs, a water-loving Husky named Enzo and a rescued Staffordshire Terrier named Leo; and two cats, an attitude-laden cat named Harlem and a sweet girl named Brooklyn. You can’t miss Enzo, as he is always by my side! In my spare time I enjoy photography, painting, learning how to cook, and – of course – spending time with my pets.

For 10 plus years I have enjoyed working in the animal field. I started as a kennel worker in the local Humane Society, where I gained hands on experience with dogs of all breeds and sizes. After 5 years I moved on to work for SPCA as an Animal Control Officer as well as working as a Veterinary Assistant. I pride myself on the knowledge I have gained with handling all different types of animals as well as understanding animal behavior. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family as well as adventuring with my own dogs.
